Steven Sheaffer, Hyannis, MA and his sister Laurie Burnett are dedicating Old Route 66 from Barstow to Santa Monica to their Father:

 John Andrew Sheaffer, Dec. 11, 1922 - Oct. 17, 2006.  Born in Elizabethtown, PA., he served in WW II in Italy as an aircraft mechanic.  He served in the original Barnstable Auxiliary Police and was on the Hyannis Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 298, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2578, a past master of the Fraternal Lodge AF&AM, and a 60 year member of the Cape Cod Synagogue, where he served four years as the financial secretary.  He was a proprietor of several enterprises before starting at Hyannis Jewelry Shop.  He opened his own jewelry shop in 1974, sold the business in 1987, and continued to work there until Dec. 2005, completing 50 years in the jewelry business.  He died from pancreatic cancer.
